Cabling and Infrastructure for Educational Facilities, presented by Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Oberon President Scott D. Thompson will present "Wireless Coverage in a Campus Environment."

A campus, particularly that of a college or university, has an almost insatiable appetite for wireless connectivity. Unlike most commercial-building environments, the higher-education campus network is in demand around the clock and its components are subject to the hazards of being placed in public spaces. This presentation not only describes the vast need for wireless in this type of environment, but also spells out the technologies that are available to meet these needs for coverage, capacity, and physical security.

    • In-Building Wireless Systems (.pdf)
Oberon's Cabling Installation and Maintenance Webinar about In-Building wireless systems. IEEE 802.11-based wireless LANs are nearly ubiquitous in office environments, where they overlay wired communications systems. A recent trend has seen some users also deploying distributed antenna systems (DAS) inside their buildings for the purpose of supporting wireless personal communications systems. This webcast seminar discussed the rising tide of in-building DAS and explored its co-existence with traditional 802.11-based wireless systems. presented August 25, 2010
    • TIA-EIA Guidelines for Wireless Networks (.pdf)
Oberon's Cabling Installation and Maintenance Webinar about Standards and Bulletins from the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) provides essential guidance for deployment of, and cabling to, wireless networks. The webcast introduced TIA guidelines for topology, design, installation, and testing of the telecommunications infrastructure for wireless networks. Power over Ethernet, structured cabling, and mounting solutions is discussed. Presented April 7, 2010
